Happy Birthday Harrison

Yay, I am finally getting back in to some serious cardmaking :-) and boy am I having fun!! This is the card I have made for Harrison.

Using the same concept as I have used before with using some scraps and then running them through an embossing folder. I have used some Kaiser Paper that I have left from Jayden's birthday card.

Hope you have a great day Harrison.

A "Thanks" for Lizzie

This last 7 days I have been in my Phase Two training at HBF.  Pretty full on but a lot of fun with our awesome trainer - Lizzie.  She makes it fun, we learn lots, have lots of laughs, listen to stories and Lizzie Jokes - and those Lizzie 'Hot Tips' are a must for evaluations!!!

I think our highlight of the week was when Lizzie went to get a handout from downstairs, it was late in the arvo and someone mention we should all leave, go home!! Then the idea came out that we should there we were 9 of us, huddled on the floor under the desks, monitors and radio turned off!! We sure gave her a shock when she came back in to the room!! haha, she thought we were in the cupboard and got a fright when she found us all hiding!!! Well, you really had to be there!! It was very funny :-)

We played a game earlier in the course where we had to right down a truth about ourselves and two untruths and Lizzie put one in too - her truth turned out to be that she can eat a family pack of M&M's in less than 10mins!! - Peanut ones!! scoff scoff - so yesterday I went and got a nice jar and a pack of Peanut M&M's, made a card to match for all of us to sign...she loved it! and I love seeing the smile on peoples faces when you give them a small gift as a token of thanks.

So here is our gift for Lizzie, as a Thanks for being a great trainer!!

8 Years ago today was one of the saddest days of my life (with the exception of losing my Mum),  we lost Grandpa, he went in to hospital for some surgery to help prevent a stroke and he had a stroke.  My heart aches for Nan, Zoe, Carl & Family.

Grandpa was the best!! He knew EVERYTHING!! - Who knew the best way to get Zoe's chalk artwork off the wall was to lightly toast some bread, so it's hard but not brown, then use that to wipe over the chalk - this collects all the dust and then you use spray and wipe to get the rest off!!!!

He told us so many stories from his Navy days, he and Nan looked after Zoe a lot when she was little and she was the apple of his eye!!!! There were no two closer than Zoe and Grandpa!

This photo was the last one we ever took, on his birthday on October 7th 2004. I was in an online Group, and this scrapbook layout was one of our challenges, I knew straight away which photo to use. It is an 8" x 8" page and I had it framed and sent it over to Nan.  Every year on his birthday we would get a Woollies Mudcake, decorate it with smarties and cover it with candles (hope it wouldn't burn!!!) and sing him Happy Birthday, I really do miss those traditions.

Here are a couple of pics of Grandpa and 'the apple of his eye' Zoe.
Love you grandpa, miss you everyday

The Road to Jo's Card......

Hi there all, I know it's been a bit long between posts, and I know I said I'd start blogging again yada yada... the honest truth is I haven't really created much lately - which is very sad!! I have this huge collection of absolutely beautiful craft supplies and not a shred of mojo to do anything with it! BUT... that is changing :-) Yes I am pleased to let you all know that I having been making myself sit down and create...and it does help if you want to make a special card for someone..... hence the title of this post.

In case you weren't aware I started a new job in May with HBF! I am loving every minute of it!! Fantastic people to work with, awesome working environment!! I love it and have made some wonderful new friends...and just recently we found out that our lovely - temporary Team Leader - will be our Team Leader for the next 12 months!! How awesome is that???? So unbeknownst to Jo, I said I'd make a card that we can all sign for her.  Now Jo likes Owls ... and I know I have an owl stamp and punch, but it just wasn't in the 'big picture' that I had in my head I wanted to use one of my (many) Tatty Teddy toppers that I collected a few months back  ... Hmmm maybe 12 (eek!) anyway, so I started ..... and so did the mess !!

So anyway, this little cutie with the pink flower, just begged to go on a pink card and I am really stuck on these stepper cards!! I love them :-) and then when I finished and sat there looking at it, it was just too pink.. more suited to a baby girl seeing it Says 'Congratulations on your news' - plus the inside was a bit small for all of us to sign - so it was back to the drawing board .....

..... next up a bigger image so a slightly bigger card, and I just happened to have these Rubons that I picked up just recently (like 2 - 3 years ago) that matched perfectly, Yay... No!! Still too pink!! BUT I did make sure I pointed it out to my Dear Hubby that I am using stuff that has been there a while ... but if I didn't buy them to use today - what would I have done??? I would have been stuck!! (hee hee) anyway - Nope still too pink!!! Righto it has to be purple! Jo likes purple..... So what can I do? I don't have a Tatty Teddy with purple, as a matter of fact I can't find anything with any purple in it!!! Umm panic.....!!! So off I trot to make up some Chicken & Cheese Sausage Rolls and some Mummy Fried Chicken to freeze for some meals....but the old brain is ticking over ....

.... half way through the Mummy Fried with icky sticky flour coated fingers....Aha!!! I have it!! That cute little bear with the yellow flower will look just gorgeous against a deep purple, Yes...but first off finish this messy cooking and then I can go back to my sanctuary :-) Isn't he just gorgeous?? And yes another stepper card, but they are so cute.  I have also used some embossing folders that just fit the side panels - so cute :-), again I have dug down deep in my stash and found some cute little yellow flowers that just fit perfectly.  I am very pleased with this one, well I love the others too, but these colours are gorgeous together.

Then one last card while I was playing with the same images, but this one doesn't stand out as much as the stepper cards, I think I may be doing a lot of the steppers in the future :-)

So there you have it, my thought process for making a card for someone special :-) I nearly always make a few before I get the right mix!!! and this is what is left after a crafting session..... Cyclone Caroline has passed through again ..... Whoops ;-)

Happy 15th Birthday Jayden

WOW I cannot believe that it was 15 years ago that I got stuck in the booth at Hungry Jacks while having a contraction!!! lol

Yep, I had to be induced with this lovely  - 10 days late - boy of mine so we went for a walk to try and hurry things a long a bit and Anthony needed something to eat, so while sitting in the booth opposite him all of sudden my stomach raised and I got stuck!!! All I could think of was emergency crews cutting this table out of the floor to get me out, then having the baby on floor in Hungry Jacks!!! Thankfully it only lasted a minute and then I was out of there as fast as a 9month 10day pregnant woman can move!! lol. Isn't it amazing what horrible scenarios can go through your mind in a split second!!!

Anyway so here he is....  then ....

and now ....

Big Difference!!!

Anyway, so now he is in to skateboards and Skype and FB!! I have had the idea for his card for ages!! and actually made it up in May!! I loved these 'dogtags' that I came across by Kaiser and they just suited Jayden to a tee!! So they had to go on his card.  So here it is.....

I am pretty pleased with the end result!! It is a 15x15cm card I have used a SU grommet in the top corner to 'hang' the dogtag from.  I have hammered the little feet in and raised it on dimensionals to be able to thread the ball-chain through.  The skater is a free vector from online.

Materials Used
Stampin Up - Cardstock and Inks - Basic Black Night of Navy.  Accessories - Large Grommets. Non SU - Kaiser Rewind Paper, Kaiser Rewind Dog Tags.

Mixed Bunch Blitz

I am a bit behind on my Birthday Fairy cards and my normal Birthday cards.  So sat down to try and catch up a bit.  Went a'googling to find some inspiration and came a cross this lovely card so I decided to make a couple.

I think they turned out quite pretty.  Though I didn't have four of the same buttons, so I had to substitute for a smaller one.  Then I decided to change colour schemes, but I just could get the same effect with the DP I had chosen, so played around a little and came up with this ....

Materials Used
Stampin Up - Stamp Sets - Apocathery Art - Cardstock & Inks - So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery. Accessories - Mixed Bunch Punch, Celery Grosgrain Ribbon, Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, Dots EF, Scallop Oval Punch, Pearls, Antique Brads.

Asheley's Engagement Invites

Looks like I am on a roll hey??

Well no - I am just catching up on some posts that I haven't gotten around to - and am scheduling them for every couple days (the plan is that I would have blogged for a week and then will have some thing new to share by the time these all run out!!! That's the plan!!)

My good friend Asheley came and visited me while in I was in hospital having my appendix out!! and what was she flashing on her finger???? Yep a gorgeous Engagement Ring!!! How exciting!!!!

Congratulations Asheley and Scott!!!

So anyway a couple weeks later she came over and we made up her Engagement Invites.  The night before we were texting back and forth as I was trying to get as much organised before we sat down to make them.  So here is what we came up with in the end.

So after lots of texts, lots of cutting, 6 hours later we had 50 Invites finished!!

Easter Gift Card

Each year my friend Denise and I just give each others boys $5 for Easter instead of chocolate, this way they can put it toward something that they are saving for (and the lids just get way too much chocolate these days anyway!!) So I made up these little gift cards.  They are 12x12cm square and just cute enough as an Easter card for boys :-)

Both the same - but slightly different matting and brads. Here's a close up.

Materials Used
Stampin Up - Stamp Sets - A Good Egg. Cardstock & Inks - Early Expresso, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango. Accessories - Brads Non SU - Kaiser Rewind DP

Another Skater Card

Before I could start on my Mixed Bunch cards last week I had to finish off two that I had half made!! This one and Jayden's birthday card. I have just about used up the last of this paper pad by Kaiser - yay!! I should be able to squeeze a few more out of it, but they will be a challenge as I am left with just a couple sheets but I will do my best :-)

I love these skater vectors that I downloaded from the web!! I just cut them out and recolour over them with a black marker - or sometimes I will clear emboss them for a nice shiny look.  This card was inspired by Richelles Card - using up scraps!! So I did!! I think it has turned out quite nice too!! So added another skater and whalah - boys card :-) That is now one boys card in my stash!! lol

Materials Used
Stampin Up - Stamp Sets - Party Punch, On Your Birthday.  Cardstock & Inks - Basic Black, Night of Navy, Whisper White. Non SU - Kaiser Rewind Paper Pad.

Good Friday Stamping

Morning :-) Today I am going to sit here and catch up on my blogging while I have my morning coffee - as I am so far behind!! I tend to go AWOL a bit (sorry)

Anyway...on Good Friday my good (hee hee get it!! haha) friend Cindy and I had a catch up and made some cards.  We decided to use a sketch that I had used previously as she wanted to make some and I wanted a couple more.

And then this is the second card I made. I messed around with the brad and flowers for ages - I think Cindy made 3 cards before I had settled on the layout, but then I just had to put them together.  I made two of each design.

Materials Used
Stampin Up - Stamp Sets - Hello Blossom, Tea Shoppe, It's Your Birthday. Cardstock and Inks - Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Early Expresso, Always Artichoke, Old Olive. Accessories - Crochet Trim, Pearls, Boho Blossoms Punch, White Taffeta Ribbon Modern Label Punch, Scallop Trim Punch, Three Flower Punch.  Non SU - Doodlebug Brads

I have been a member of ESAD for quite some time and have been on many a blog hop, but this time I am 'in it'!! I have chosen to use the stamp set Tea Shoppe (I love it!!) and also to feature the gorgeous satin pleated ribbon (OMG it is to die for!!!).  My colour scheme has been in my head ever since I signed up - Crumb Cake, Concord Crush and Blushing Bride. So.......on to the official stuff and then to share my goodies :-)

So if you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator located in Australia or New Zealand, then please feel free to click here to join our wonderful group

Okey Dokey, so you have probably just left the stunning creations of Theresa "Tess" Schirmer, hope you enjoyed visiting her blog.  Now on to what I have been up to :-)

I was planning on doing a folder for some teabags, a few cards and a folder to put them in - well we all know about best laid plans hey!? yep it didn't happen - so I made a box for some teabags and a set of four notecards.  I will over the next couple of weeks endeavour to get a folder made up to put said notecards in! (Will post it here when I am done!)

All the items

Now this box was messing around in my dreams the other night! I have made these boxes before - so quick and easy!! I should have gotten up and made it then! It is basically 2.5" square and fits the boxes of teabags in nice and snugly, cut out a window, strategically place the sentiment to hide to joining of the two boxes (of tea), make a pair standard boxes for top and base and decorate with the gorgeous ribbon :-) If you want the measurements for these just email me and I will be happy to send them on. I have attempted a 'rosette' on the top, but will have to play a bit more as it is coming apart. (it's my first attempt). Now the cards.  They are all the size of the Notecards (107311) in the catty on page 126.

First card off the rank

Card number two was inspired by a card I found while searching for inspiration at Sweetest Designs, I basically just used the embossing folder idea and then made the rest my own.

Number three! Trying to make sure I use all the stamps in the set :-)

Finally number four!
I ended up using 9/10 of the stamps!!

So that is it for my projects, I hope you enjoyed visiting my blog and hope you pop back one day :-) and remember to leave a comment on each blog you visit on the hop as we all love to receive some comment love!! Now it is time for you to hop on over to visit Michelle Halling's blog - Have fun :-)
