Card Portfolio

Front View

Pulling out the Portfolio bit!

The Portfolion opened

...and opened again to reveal the cards

This is another Class Tutorial I purchased from Andrea Walford. I have actually changed the size of this to suit our C6 Envelopes and our 'standard' cards. so it is slightly taller and wider.  It took forever to make as I kept double checking all my measurements.  But I wrote them down and when I get my 12 x 12 In Colour cardstock I am going to make another using the Good Morning Sunshine DP and Good Friend & Cheep Talk stamp sets.  Looking forward to playing with that.

Again I have followed Andrea's tutorial and used the same papers and stamp sets, except for the sentiments, which I have used Warm Words (retired).  I have also changed the note bit on the inside of the Portfolio and stamped all the envelopes with the single flower from the Bloomin' with Beauty stamp set. I had a lot of fun with this one too!! So am glad I purchased them.

Next up I hope to blog some cards that I have been making for Petra at Craft Factory, but will check with her first.

Here are close ups of the cards in the Portfolio

Materials Used - Stampin Up! - Stamp Sets - Bloomin' with Beauty, Warm Words. Cardstock & Inks - Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White. Accessories - DP - Afternoon Tea, Chocolate Chip Wide Grosgrain Ribbon, Antique Brass Brads & Jumbo Eyelets, Scallop Edge Punch, Large Oval Punch, AquaPainter, Crop-a-dile, Stamp-a-ma-jig, daubers, WWC

Pun Fun Class

OMG!! I have been a bit of a bad blogger hey!??? I have been busy though, so I will try and blog my bits and pieces today and schedule a 'delayed release' persay!! lol.

I frequently visit Andrea Walfords blog, I just love the little card sets that she comes up with so I decided to take the plunge and purchase a couple of her classes.  This first one is Pun Fun, it is a cute little folder that has four card/tags in it, and the envelopes actually 'tear out' of the folder as you use them, they are perforated on the fold. We don't have that particular sized envelope in our aussie catalogue, so i was going to adapt it for DL size, then realised they would be too big.  Then a lightbulb moment - yep the envelopes in last years Lifelong Notes Simply Sent kit were the same size!! so I used those.  I plan to adapt the folder to suit the note cards though, as I think they would be cute!

Anyway I am prattling, when following a tutorial  I like to follow it exactly first up and then change it to suit me or use other papers when I make another so I have made this folder the same as the tutorial.  I have also solved (I think) my magnetic snaps problem - they seem too strong and one always seems to pull/tear away from the paper - so I have discovered that if I put a bit of cardstock between the two magnets, they seem to not pull too hard. (if ya get my drift!!) So on this folder I have hidden the top magnet between two Pumpkin Pie scallop circles! So one is attached between two scallops under the squirrel ( this also give the bit that you use to open the folder a bit more strength), and the other is attached to the blue base. Anyway, on to the pics hey??

This picture shows the folder open, the perforations are on the fold near the DP.

This pic shows the tags in the envelopes.

Now below is a close up of all the tags!! I love this set, and this (unfortunately retired) paper. Each Tag has a different opening! The Hippo & Bird both open outwards, to write on the inside. The Cat pulls out a hidden tag to write on.  The Whale image and the scalloped top section open upwards and the Rockets on the Pumpkin Pie open upwards. So cute!!! So clever, Thanks to Andrea for a wonderful class! I hope to pass it on to my ladies in the future, using newer product.

So that's that! What did you think??  I can't wait now to adapt it to suit notecards, it would make a lovely gift!!

Bye for now!!

My UNconvention Swaps

Well here they are! My Swaps for Unconvention!! Next time I do a MEGA Swap can someone remind me to 'keep it simple' !! I tell you, the card idea was good in theory, but when you need to make 21 (one for me) all the same it is not a good idea to have so many layers in mind! especially if you are like me and sponge everything!! Luckily I had my sister here and she sat and helped me sponge one evening, she did all the chocolate and I did the pink. I also had to stamp out and emboss all the pink backgrounds and the white dots on the eggs. 21 bows ~ all pretty much identical! Not an easy task!! But they are done! Finished and I am pretty proud of them!

The theme was Unconventional ~ meaning use a stamp set for a different purpose that what it is designed for, unconventional colour schemes etc. I chose to use the 'A Good Egg' stamp set, which is generally used for Easter Cards and made a 'Happy New Baby' card. I like the look of having the Egg open up (seen on SCS) and decided to put the baby from all in the family in the egg. As I said ~ a great idea in theory!! but not when you are making 21 of them!! LOL. But I had fun and I hope the ladies enjoy their cards. Also a BIG Thankyou to Lisa D'Almeida for coming up with, and organising the Un Convention!! and her helpers!! You have all done a fabulous job and all the time and effort you have put in is awesome!!!

So now that UNconvention is over and things are getting back to normal, I hope to try and share with you 3 - 4 times a week!!

Happy 10th Birthday Owen!

Well we didn't think he'd make it!! (lol) but Owen turned 10 yesterday!! double figures!! WoW!! He still loves his puppies!! We don't actually have a dog, but Owen has probably 20 stuffed ones!! So it is only fitting to pop a puppy on his card! My lovely friend Petra from Craft Factory sent me this 3D image sheet a while back, so I have finally put it to use and made a card! There are two other images on the sheet which, while I have it out will also put on to cards.

The boys always get to choose what they want for dinner on their Birthdays, so Owen chose Hungry Jacks!! and Zoe and Josh came a long too, he also chose the seating! They were on a table for 4 and Anthony and I shoved over to a table for two!! No he wasn't being romantic - they were on a table for the Y Generation and Anthony and I were on an X Generation table!! He's been watching too much tele!! haha.  Anyway, off to finish off one more Birthday surprise for him, before he comes home from school!! Bye.

(Oh, I couldn't match the 3D image with Stampin Up Colours, so have used Bazzill with this card, but have used the Stampin Up! Stamp Set - Snow Burst for the background).

Grubby, but Gorgeous!!!

Look at that face!!!! Isn't she beautiful????

(lol) This is my gorgeous little niece Ella Rose! taken when she came down from Kalgoorlie a few weeks back! This is her 'Camera Face' so cute!! I had to share, she is currently my background on my computer!! Such a cute, cheeky smile!! Anyway I am off, I have a photo session for Owens' Birthday Card booked!  Will be back to share that later.

Happy Birthday Asheley!!

It was one of my craft friends, Asheley's Birthday on Saturday and I don't know if she remembers, but a while back she mentioned that she must have a pink elephant from 'Wild about You' on a card!! and ever since she has seen the new In Colours, she has fallen in love with Kiwi Kiss and has been itching to put it together with Pink Passion!! So I took that on a as a challenge for her card!! So using a bit of inspiration from the net, where I have seen the animals 'stacked' I came up with this VERY BRIGHT creation!! I also pulled out my Flower Fusion and even though the colours are Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red & Old Olive, they seem to go rather nicely!!

So a Big Happy Birthday to Asheley, I hope you like you card and the couple of little surprises that are inside!! (hee hee)

Till next time

My First Backpack! Take 2!!!

Well it seems my first attempt at the BackPack failed miserably!!! While it looked ok!! and I was quite chuffed when I had finished it, I wasn't completely happy!!! and if Caroline isn't happy it's not good enough!! (lol). So, I had to make another one! My main 'beef' with the first one was that my Basic Grey Magnetic Snaps kept unsticking, so therefore weren't working in my opinion! and they  ripped the cardstock! I was getting VERY annoyed.  I tried new DS Tape, then Sticky Strip, then the Power Pritt Glue that was recommended!! and it still didn't work, the magnets are just too strong.

So this time around my thinking was to put some paper between the magnets.  If you look carefully in the picture below you can see that I have made the 'flaps' double strength. I cut  the flap out of the template in Dp then cut another in the opposite direction so the birds are standing the right way! I ran it through my Xyron 510 and before sticking the two together, popped in the magnet.  Then when I needed to adhere the magnet to the base I let it attach to the 'hidden' one, placed sticky strip on the back and stuck it down. Now when opening the flaps, it still pulls a little, but they do come apart. Just need to be careful with lifting the flap so that it doesn't rip.

I would love to hear how anyone else has worked around the problem with these magnets!! They are supposed to be 'so great' but I am finding them rather painful!! But I will perservere.

With this one I have also used the Linen BG stamp to give a bit of texture to the backpack I wasn't 100% 'happy' with how plain the first one looked. I have also used my Build a Brad for the first time on the little card!!! So now, I am happy, again.  Till something goes wrong, again!!! So it is now this one that is destined for a certain little someone, who's birthday was a little while ago!! Happy Belated Birthday ..........?

Materials Used - Stampin Up! - Cardstock & Inks - Pacific Point, Chocolate Chip.  Stamp Sets - On Your Birthday, Linen BG, Canvas BG. Accessories - Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Scallop Cirlce Punch, Cirlce Punches, Antique Brass Build A Brad, Good Morning Sunshine DP.

More Choclate Boxes!!

I just LOVE these chocolate boxes!! It's all Kims fault!! (LOL) She introduced us to them last year on her Blog!! haha.  They are gorgeous!! and sooooo very easy to make!! I made up a couple more the other day, and actually used the "Enjoy Every Moment" stamp set (Quite appropriate, seeing the Chocolates inside are the Cadbury Eight Moments!!).  On this one I also used the Cup & Froth from "Like it a Latte", one is for my Roomie at UNconvention and this one is destined for an E-Friend of mine!! Watch your letterboxes ladies!!! - I am definitley keeping Aussie Post afloat at the moment!! LOL
Materials Used - Stampin Up! - Stamp Sets - Enjoy Every Moment & Like it a Latte. Cardstock & Inks - Baja Breeze, Elegant Eggplant & Whisper White. Accessories - Baja Breeze Prints DP, Baja Breeze Double Striped Ribbon

My First Backpack!!

Looky Look!! (hee hee) I made a backpack!!! I have seen these on Blogs here and there and then last week they had a tutorial on Splitcoast!! Yay!! This is pretty basic colours, being my first, but I will play again!! This one is headed for a little girl, who's birthday was a while ago, but I just haven't gotten around to making her a card!! So when I saw the tutorial, thought, well now it is definately time to give it a go!! The little butterfly card goes in the front pocket and I am not sure what I am popping in the back yet!!

I am thinking that I might stamp the background on my next one, and a bit of sponging here and there wouldn't go astray!! But I am loving it!! and think it turned out rather cute!!

Materials Used - Stampin Up! - Cardstock & Inks - Rose Red, Whisper White. Accessories - Tim Coffey - Young Girl DP, Pink Satin Ribbon.

Three Thankyou Totes!!

I had so much fun making the Mother's Day Totes (filled with yummy Ferrero Roche!!), so after making a few measurement adjustments and then actually writing them down!! I whipped up another 3!! I thought I would stick with the same colour scheme, seeing the papers were still strewn everywhere from the last two!! (haha)

These are destined for the mail boxes of three wonderful ladies!! I wonder if you can guess?  Hopefully they should arrive soon.

Materials used are the sames the post for Mother's Day.  Thanks Andrea Walford for your video tutorial!!

Mother's Day Project & Card

Well, here it is! I was surfing away on Andrea Walford's Blog yesterday, and seeing I was so far behind and hadn't made anything for Nan and my MIL, I found this little tote and thought "I could use that idea"!! Anyway, Andrea used 3 little glass bottles of treats, where as I have used Ferrero Roche instead.  I found that the tote didn't stand up too well, so made 3 little tubes for them to sit in.  This idea came after I had thought just to make the Tote a bit thinner, so I did and it didn't work!! It still fell over.  LOL. So with the slightly thinner one I have actually stacked the Ferrero Roche on top of each other and tied them together with a bow.  This has worked a treat!! I have also added a cute 'Wish' Giftcard for them as well.  Seeing we don't haave the cute little Envelope die that they have in the US, and my Cricut envelope just didn't work right, I designed my own little Scalloped Envelope that fits a Giftcard perfectly and ~ it is scalloped!! with they Eyelet Border Punch.

If you would like to have a go at these Totes, pop anlong to Andrea's blog and have a play.  The tubes were made by using a toilet roll as the template and then rolled just a little tighter and stuck together.  Note : Tissue tape doesn't hold it together so you will have to  use Sticky strip or some glue.

Here is a close up of the evelope with the Giftcard

The Tote 'open'

And finally a close up of the Mother's day Card to match.

Materials Used - Stampin Up! - Cardstock & Inks - So Safron, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Tangerine Tango. Stamp Sets - Occasional Greetings, A Happy Heart. DP - Haiku. Accessories - Eyelet Border Punch, Old Olive 1/4" & 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.

The Most Difficult Main Project! from Unconvention

This project got me so frustrated!! LOL It was very fiddly, and one that I probably wouldn't try again for a while, though I should give it another go or two and then put the instructions away!! haha.  It wasn't the card that was so hard it was getting the pop up mechanism 'just right' and then the 'wall' paper covering the mechanism to sit right without bubbling or slipping!! But I got there in the end.
As I was making it I thought my good friend Debbie (who I have known since high school), and it was her birthday yesterday ~ I  am getting my days muddled and actually thought her birthday was today (Friday) but it wasn't, so I was making it on Wednesday night, during our final unconvention chat, and thought "Yep, pop it in the mail tomorrow and Deb will get it on her Birthday, but no, i was wrong, so she should get it today.
Here I go again, prattling away.  If you would like to give it a go you will find the instructions at  sunflowerstamping.com. Ok I am off!! Debbie, if you are reading this I hope you like your card and had a lovely birthday.

Flip Flop Album (Another) Main Project

Now this isn't as difficult as it looks, and it is a cute sort of 6" x 6" album, and you end up with 9 pages to scrap.  I actually stuck mine in the 'cover' a little different to the instructions given, but I found it sat flatter.  I also haven't added a 'flap' for the front or the doors on the inside, as I am waiting to see what suits when I add photos, I am going to have a look through the pictures taken at the boys, Christmas/Graduation Concert and Christmas 2008 and see if they are worthy of scrapping in here.  As I said it was really quite easy to make up and a gorgeous way to showcase some of the beautiful DP's that Stampin Up! have to offer.

The link for where Lisa got this beauty from is here on inspiredstamping.com, so go check it out, like I said it is very easy.

Unconvention is Over!!! & Final Challenges

Well it is with great sadness that we all checked out of the 'Hotel SOS' today! ~ But not before heading down to the pool for a swim, then to the beauty spa for a facial and a massage!! (hee hee) This 'virtual holiday' has been better than a real one!! and then I came home and found that a tornado has ripped through my craft space!!! How that happened I have no idea!! LOL.

Anyway, we had a couple of Final Challenges on Monday, so these are my cards.  The first one was a sketch challenge, and seeing I am loving the Upsy Daisy Set and the Urban Garden DP, I went with that (plus is was still sitting on top of the pile on my bed!!), the second was an inspiration/colour challenge, so I interpreted the colours as Creamy Caramel, More Mustard, Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip  (& Pumpkin Pie - but I didn't use it!) It was a tapestry picture, so I sort went with colour and inspiration and used Linen BG (Retired) on the Creamy Carmael to give it that fabric look, I am rather pleased with it too.

And that is just a bout it.  I have a couple more Unconvention items to share and then it is back to normal, seeing my Mojo came back with me, hopefully I will be sharing a bit more and more often!! I just really need to clean up my space! I have paper EVERYWHERE!! and I need to catch up on some household jobs, then it's back to the 'Craft Seat' for me.

Catch you all later.

The Third Main Project (Second isn't finished yet!!)

This is the third Main Project released!  I am still working on the second, finsihing up all the little bits to go inside it. I have a problem with doing straight forward things!! and need to mull over them so they are 'just right'. Hopefully will get it done tonight! Anyway, this I have seen previously on other peoples blogs. It has been one of things that you look at, go "WOW!!", then say "I must give that a go!!" then put it to the back of your mind and never get around to doing it!! This is what I have loved about UNconvention!! We have all been 'giving these things a go!!' So thankyou to Lisa, who has sourced these items for us.  She has provided us with the links to the Blogs of where she sourced them, and for life of me have lost the page with the instructions, so will add it a bit later.

I have decided to use up a bit of Retired DP as I have yet to 'acquire' alot of the new stuff! Though will this month, as it is buy 3 get one free!! Gotta Love That!!!

So here is my 'Stepper Box', isn't it gorgeous?  I used tape to stick the liner in, but with use spray adhesive next time as it buckled a little. I have also attached the Hodgepodge Frame through the ribbon, I didn't want the ends to scratch the side of the box as it is a snug fit.
Anyway, found that link for the Stepper Box, so go on, give it a go!!! NOW!!  haha. I am off to finsish a couple of the other projects.  Seeya

Our Second Lot of Challenges

For these we had a Colour Challenge, Scrapbook Sketch and a Sketch Challenge.  I was at work on Sunday, so didn't get to even look at them until after our Awards Dinner!! So for the Scrapbook Sketch I scrapped the pics from the dinner!!
Ok so a little explanation about the dinner, we originally were supposed to get dressed up! But seeing this is 'Unconvention' we had to go unconventional!! So PJ's was the dress code!! I didn't seem to have anything suitable so while talking to my boss on Sunday morning, she mentioned that she had some made up in Bali, so her daughter Kristen came to the rescue (well they both did actually) and brought them in to work for me!! We had a Menu announced earlier, so we could prepare and have our 'staff' wait on us, there was even a letter to our family members outling what was expected of them during the course of our Special Dinner!! ha ha.  Anyway, I had Entree - Garlic Bread, Main - Gourmet Pizza and dessert was announced on the night - we had to make it ourselves from staple pantry items!! It was all Top Secret!! but I had an inkling of what it might be, so checked the cupboard and found we had no cocoa!! so made sure it was on the shopping list for Saturday. Sure enough, the Dessert was a Mudcake in a Mug, only take 5 mins to make and is so yummy!!!
The night was filled with lots of chatting in the chatroom, a few Tia Maria's!! eating and Awards! I won a prize patrol earlier in the week and on the night won the award for the most email posts to the group!! haha, yep I am a chatterbox, just ask Anthony!! lol.  Anyway, on to my challenges.....
Here is the Sketch....
And here is my Page

Next up was the Sketch Challenge, I am not 100% content with this card, so will recreate it later with a bit more sponging and matting!! that'll make me happy.

Last up we had the Colour Challenge, the colours to use were - Old Olive, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Kraft and Very Vanilla.  Well I didn't have any Kraft, I have never purchased the colour as I have always thought it looked like a cereal box (from the pic in the catty anyway), but my opinion is changing now and I will order a pack in my next order.  I sent out a 'HELP' to the  group and someone came up with the idea of using the backing card from the Stampin Techniques Packaging, so that is what I did.  It (I think) is a bit darker than the Kraft Cardstock, but did the job.  Turns out I had Kraft Taffeta Ribbon on my stash too!! So I used some of that. I am actually really pleased with the way this one turned out too!!

So that was our second lot of challenges, we still have a couple more to go, which I will post later. I also have the Main Projects to complete and Post also. I have just realised that I haven't been posted the Material Used List, so whn things settle down I will pop back in a update these posts. Till tomorrow....Happy Stamping!!

First Scrapbook Challenge

Hello!! Well I thought I'd catch up with a few more of the shenanigans that we have been getting up to at Unconvention.  Here is our first scrapbook Challenge.  When the challenge was posted I knew straight away what to do!! I have a picture of Grandad with Zoe, Jayden and Owen on his last birthday.  Every year on his Birthday we took him over a cake for afternoon tea with his gift and card, he always loved my cards and went on about them....and LOVED his cake!! It always had to have smarties and candles on it!! Owen and Jayden insisted! LOL. He was about to go in to hospital for surgery, and unfortunately didn't come out. So this is literally the last photo ever taken of him!! So it is cherished! I have it stuck to the wall above my craft desk and see it everyday, I love it so much.  So now it is alot more attractive!! haha.  Grandad was a navy man, so I have given it a few nautical embellishments.

So here is the Sketch.....

And here is my Page...

Day 1 Challenges

Ooohhh I am not good at Challenges....Isit and ponder for absolutley ages!!! The first was to copy a sketch from the Stampin Up! catalogue, any sketch, and we were to recreate it using everything different, different colours, different stamps sets!! Hmmmmm - I ended up going with Page 86, I spent absolutely forever going through the catty trying to make up my mind!! i should have shut my eyes opened the book and pointed!! (the usual would be to throw a dart but there is NO WAY I am throwing a dart at my precious catalogue!! haha) So here is my card......

I nearly freaked when Anthony walked up behind me and said "But you are using the same colour in the middle", but thankfully the card in the catty uses Bravo Burgundy and I have used Chocolate Chip.

Materials Used - Stampin Up! - Cardstock & Inks - Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White. Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink Marker, Certainly Celery. Stamp Sets - Bloomin' with Beauty & Best Yet. Accessories - Celery Grosgrain Ribbon, Rhinestone Brad, Dimensionals.

Next we had a colour challenge, we had to use Night of Navy, Kiwi Kiss, Certainly Celery and Whisper White!! this challenge threw me!! Two greens.  Not good. My first card was crap, but I am pretty happy with the second attempt.

Materials Used - Stampin Up! - Cardstock & Inks - Night of Navy, Whisper White, Certainly Celery & Kiwi Kiss. Stamp Sets - Lovely as a Tree, Upsy Daisy & Greetings Eight. Acessories - Certainly Celery Ribbon, Linen Thread, Kiwi Kiss Patterns DP, White Taffeta Ribbon, Oval Punches, Scallop Square Punch.
