The Adventure Duck!!

The Duck Dive Splash!!

Owen Driving the Duck

Jayden Driving the Duck

The Aqua Duck

Hello there again!! Well today (Friday) we went on the Adventure Duck! It is an 'amphibious vehicle' so it is a bus on land and a boat on water!! Quite spectacular!! We drove along the streets of Surfers Paradise then did a 'Duck Dive" into the waters of the Broadwater!! The first picture is the Splash when we dove into the water. The boys the got a chance to help drive and got a certificate to say they did! The picture of the AquaDuck is another one run by a different company that we saw while we were on the water, and that's what we would have looked like!! As we were driving around the streets we couldn't wave at passers by as we were 'ducks' so we had to quack very loudly!! LOL. The boys each got a little showbag and a little duck each!! So that now brings the furry friend count to 15!! Geez, we gotta get these animals home on the plane!!

This may well be my last entry before we head home as I am not sure if I can get internet where we are going. I may be able to connect at the retirement community where Nan is, I will see.

Till next time, seeya!!

Theme Parks - Today - Seaworld

View of our Villa from Seaworld

The Dolphin Show

Elmo & Zoe at Sesame Street Beach

The Boys with a Walrus!

The Fish Detectives Sealion Show

We decided to head off to Seaworld today (Thursday) instead of having a rest day, as it was a fine day and Friday is expected to be showers, so off we toddled, around the Spit to directly across the water from our accommodation. I was instructed to "head straight for the Dolphin Show!!" so we did, and it was amazing!! I got some pretty good shots too!! Then we popped into Sesame Street Beach! Now the boys wouldn't have a bar of the Wiggles, but raced into Sesame Street - go figure??!! They had a go on most of the rides, which are very tame!! We went and lined up for the 4D Planet SOS show but it was cancelled due to technical problems, so we popped on the two closest rides, the Flume and The Bermuda Triangle!! More wet rides!! The Flume was very much like the Rocky Hollow at Dreamworld, the Bermuda Triangle was a real experience!! Loved it! Popped back to line up for the Planet SOS and again it was canceled so we decided to leave it until the last show of the day at 4.30pm to see if it was working then. We had a ride on the Skyways chair lift thing and also went on the Monorail. Anthony expressed a desire to go on the Corkscrew, but after hearing that you went from 0 - 100kph in 2 seconds (pa on the monorail) Jayden decided he didn't want to go, and Anthony was too chicken to go on his own!! We watched the Fish Detectives Sealion show, which was very well done! and had a wander through the underwater viewing galleries to look at the sharks etc!! The boys loved it! The polar bears were sleeping, so we didn't get to see them. Finally we got in to see the 4D SOS show, after all the waiting we did during the day to see it, even though it was good, we were a bit disappointed :-(. All in all another fun tiring day!! Tomorrow we are off on the Adventure Duck!!

Furry Friend count today 11!! We added Squirt - the Dolphin, Sealy - the Seal and Ella the Polar Bear (Ella is mine!! and she cuddles in just like my new little niece Ella did when I was in Kalgoorlie so was given her name!!)

Theme Parks!! Next Stop - Dreamworld

The Boys with SpongeBob & Patrick

Jimmy Neutron with the Boys

WOW! The Tiger Show was Fantastic!!

This is the only Roller Coaster you'd get me on!!

The boys with Angelica & Chuckie

Our day at Dreamworld started off a bit slow, the rides weren't open and they all seemed to start a little late. But we perservered. We had a wander and watched the SpongeBob Show then went on the rides in Nickelodeon. I went on the Runaway Reptar Rollercoaster!! I had my eyes shut the whole time! But I went on it!! LOL, I was a bit braver today. We went on this other ride where you just went round and round, Angry Beavers Spooty Spin, but then you couldn"t walk when you got off!! We also went on The Rocky Hollow Log Ride, which got us rather wet!! So though Oh well we may as well go on the Thunder River Rapids too!! they were fun (and wet as I have already mentioned!) Neither of the boys wanted to go anywhere near Wiggles World!! (I think they think that they are too old for that now!!) We went and watched the Tiger Show at Tiger Island, they are gorgeous animals!! Anthony and Jayden also braved the Cyclone Rollercoaster! There was no way they were going to get me on that one!! we also jumped on the train and took a tour around the whole park.

Furry Friend count today is 8, we added Leo and Leon two little tiger cubs!!

Infinity and King Tutt Putt Putt

Playing the Egyptian Course (Above 3)

The Jurassic Course (Above 2)

Today (Tuesday) was very wet!! It poured all day! So we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to go visit a couple of indoor places. We went to Infinity, which was fantastic! a maze of mirrors, lights, pitch black areas and you just have to feel your way around. It was truly amazing, we were a bit disappointed though, as when the people in front of us found the door we then knew where to go to get out in to the next room, so if you are planning on going there and there is a group in the room with you wait till they go through, then shut your eyes twirl around a few times so you loose your bearings, then try and find the door!! It was very enjoyable, but we went through too quick. We then went to King Tutt Putt Putt, which has 3 - 18 hole mini golf courses and two of them are indoors. They were fun!! You have to putt your way through glow in the dark tunnels and had some rather difficult putts, we all had fun and the way it was set up was fantastic.

Furry Friend count remains the same today!! (3 dogs, a duck, a bird and a wascily wabbit!!)

The Theme Parks!! First Stop - Movieworld

The Gang from Scooby Doo Disco Detectives!

My Kind of Ride!!

Wild Western Falls

Time to Leave

Hey there everyone!! Well I am in the Amenities block doing some washing (can't get away from that on holidays!!) so I thought I'd would take the time while I have some peace and quiet to update the blog on our week of ThemeParks!! (and I also get to connect to the net without Owen constantly asking to go on to TamaTown!!)

Here we go! On Monday we headed off to Movieworld!! The day was wet, it drizzled most of the day but we are only here for a week so have to make do. We had a great day, YES I did go on some rides, and got the beegeebies scared out of me!! Who would have thought that Owen would be the Adrenalin Junkie of the family!! I am sure people out side of the rides could hear him squealing with delight over the noise of the rides!! Geez!! We all went on the Batman 2 Ride, that was cool, I managed ok, so thought "yeah I can handle these" that was until I went on the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster! Getting flung here and there and going BACKWARDS down a steep decline isn't my idea of fun!! As we went though the bit where the photo is taken, Anthony and I both had our heads down as we instinctively ducked!! So coming out of that I stupidly said, "when we go on this again we will have to make sure we don't duck so we get a good photo!" that was before they sent us screaming down a hill backwards!! Needless to say we didn't get a better photo!! haha. The boys and Anthony went on alot of the rides, a couple were closed due to weather or maintenance, we had a great wander around and saw the shows, Anthony and the boys also went on the Wild Western Falls! There was no way I was going down that!! But they had a ball. We also watched the Shrek 4D Show - twice!! there was alot of unexpected moments and it was really funny!!

Furry Friend count after today is 6 we now have Baby Tweety, Baby Bugs and Baby Daffy!!

That was our Monday!!

Day One (Take Two)

Jayden asleep at the Airport

Owen asleep and Anthony pretending!!

Fireworks

View of Seaword from our Verandah

Our view at Breakfast!!

Well today we 'officially' started our Queensland Adventure!! Day One was a bit of a write off! First of all our plane was late arriving - therefore late leaving!! But no, there had to be another problem!! A globe on the end of the wing had blown!! A simple thing to fix you say?? Nope!! The wind speed on the tarmac was too fast!! and therefore was not safe enough for the guy to go up in the cherry picker to replace it! So we had to wait for the wind to die down, if this did not happen they were going to get another plane, well the wind did die down so up went the guy in the cherry picker and he replaced the globe!! YAY well not so fast, apparently the contacts were dirty so we had to wait for that to be sorted, then we finally got to board the plane, meanwhile we (Anthony and the boys) had a nice little nap on the floor at the airport. We didn't board till after 1.30am!! We were supposed to arrive in QLD at 5.30am but we didn't land until 7.13am!! a little later than expected! Then we got our hire car (a nice Toyota Orion!) and headed off to find our way to Nan's, well that was fun! getting used to the road system over here makes me appreciate the signage we have on our highways in WA!! (no offense to any Queenslanders reading this!) We finally found Nan and it was so great to give her a hug!! Boy have I missed her. We had a cuppa and a chat, then went to lunch, she had booked us for lunch at the Community Centre. I went and had a nap to try and get rid of a pending migraine! Not much luck. By pm my head was pounding and we still had to drive to the Gold Coast. So off we went. We had a little more luck finding our way to The Broadwater at Southport!! and what a lovely place it is, our cabin is right on the water, we look out across the water and Seaworld is dead opposite! It is gorgeous, I managed to get rid of the headache too!! The boys had a play on the beach, we found Maccas for dinner and had an earlyish night. Just as we were getting the boys ready for bed I heard a popping noise outside and when I went to check it out it was fireworks over the broadwater!! Just for us - Shucks QLD you didn't need to do that!!

So now today, Sunday, we went to Pacific Fair to check out the shops, it was my turn to drive!! Heaven or what! There is a button to move the seats forward and back, the lights go on automatically when it senses its getting dark!! everything is at the touch of a button!! I want it to rain to see if the windscreen wipers are automatic too!! (there is a possibility of that tomorrow too!!) Now if I can just get those features in the KIA I will be in heaven!! LOL. We had breakky at this cafe at the shops and sat outside overlooking a lake!! The boardwalk that we were sitting on was over water!! It was lovely and relaxing. Then we had a wander around, bought some clothes etc, and popped in to Toys R Us!! After leaving there we popped up to Australia Fair to do some grocery shopping, before heading back. Tomorrow we are off to Movie World!!
Well that's it for today folks! Will fill you in tomorrow!!
Love Caroline!!
(Oh and for those of you in the know!! Furry Friend count is 3!! A Border Collie (Jayden's), a Cocker Spaniel and a RSPCA Pawphan named Cutie!!)
